Role Purpose

Are you passionate about education and eager to make a difference? Join us in supporting teachers to provide high-quality education in Young Learner classrooms and across our center's courses. Collaborate closely with Senior Teachers, Operations, Customer Service, and fellow educators. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English language lessons tailored to diverse student needs, while monitoring progress and providing regular feedback. Enhance academic excellence by contributing to our in-house teacher development programs and supporting the wider aims of the British Council's cultural relations mission.

 

Main Accountabilities:

In this role, you’ll teach Young Learner and Adult classes, you'll also handle teaching-related administrative tasks. Provide effective line management and support for staff, ensuring all teaching meets British Council standards. Monitor the well-being of your team and offer personal support as needed. Act as a duty officer to support teachers, parents, and students both on weekdays and Saturdays. Assist in recruiting, inducting, and onboarding new teachers.

Teach classes according to local needs and act as a role model for good classroom practice. Highlight best practices within the center and externally.

Ensure teaching frameworks are understood and implemented by academic colleagues. Communicate relevant policies to learners and support other teams with communications. Handle academic inquiries or complaints, ensuring teachers are fully briefed. Contribute to cluster and regional product teams and the evaluation of global products to meet students' needs.

Qualifications & Experience

Essentials:

  • Full Mastery of English across 4 skills, equivalent to CEFR C2 (IELTS Academic Paper Band 8/9 in each of the 4 sections).
  • Undergraduate Degree.
  • Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL and Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Diploma TESOL (or equivalent recognized by the British Council).
  • 2 years post-diploma i.e. DELTA/Trinity Diploma TESOL experience.
  • Extensive experience in teacher training, managing teaching teams, and teaching various age groups.
  • Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (800+ hours).
  • Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (400+ hours).
  • Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours).

 

Desirables:

  • Relevant masters/post graduate qualification
