Role Purpose: 

The purpose of the role is to provide the British Council, Sri Lanka Office with vehicle driving, related mechanical and administrative support as required.

 

Main Accountabilities:

 

  • Transportation of staff for work-related purposes, including meeting and greeting at the airport.
  • Always driving safely and responsibly. Some of the driving is outside of Colombo.
  • Ensuring regular maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle and other contracted vehicles.
  • Guiding drivers of outsourced vehicles.
  • Keeping proper records of distances travelled, refuelling, servicing and other checklists.
  • Arranging for regular servicing of the vehicle.
  • General messenger duties, e.g. banking and postage.
  • Perform clerical duties and provide overall assistance in the office.
  • Liaising with the partners on various transport matters.
  • Undertake administrative and logistical support to designated workshops, meetings and events according to stated requirements.
  • Delivery documents to various collaborating government offices, partners and perform related liaison works.
  • Collecting and returning guests from/to the airport and or hotel accommodation.
  • Carrying out general duties as directed by the Director Business Operations.

 

Role specific knowledge and experience:

 

  • A minimum of 8 years of work experience
  • Experience working in the international organisation
  • Proven safe driving record
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations
  • Basic English and fluent in Sinhala
  • Operates as a basic user of information systems, digital and office technology
  • Strong time management skills
