Purpose of job:

Supports the programme team in the implementation of programmes and projects in

compliance with British Council policies and procedures including financial admin, reporting

and data collection, operational project delivery and managing relations with delivery partner

 

Main opportunities/challenges for this role 

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

Managing Self and Others

  • Holds vendors and suppliers accountable for the delivery of services.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and manage workload against project deadlines.

 

Financial Support

  • Plans and reports on project financial plans, budget expenditure, and forecasting to Programme Managers and the Head of Programme Delivery; manages smaller budgets.
  • Maintains clear and up-to-date records of all financial transactions in line with audit requirements.
  • Ensures relationships with vendors are maintained and that payments are processed on time and in accordance with FABS online system (SAP Finance) guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance with British Council financial policies and procedures.

 

Project Management

  • Responsible for data management, including timely data entry, quality assurance, basic analysis of monitoring data, and development of progress reports to meet funder requirements.
  • Supports internal compliance processes, including due diligence, records management, data collection, and secure data storage.
  • Manages grants administration, selection and evaluation, and procurement processes.
  • Manages event-based programme components and training activities.
  • Supports the Project/Programme Manager in implementing diversity mainstreaming action plans and contributes to their delivery.

 

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Manages relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders at an appropriate level.
  • Manages relationships with vendors and suppliers and holds them accountable for service delivery.

 

Conditions of Employment

  • Proof of identity and right to work in Bangladesh is required.
  • Candidates are expected to have researched whether they have the right to live and work in Bangladesh, where the role is based.
  • As British Council offices operate under different legal statuses depending on the nature of work in each country, candidates are advised to contact in-country HR for information regarding visa eligibility.
  • Visa support may be provided at the British Council’s discretion during shortlisting; candidates should confirm availability of support in advance.

 

Language Requirement: Expert in Bangla and English

 

Qualification: Bachelor’s degree (Honours)

 

Role specific knowledge and experience

Minimum/Essential:

  • Experience of working in a supporting role on programmes or projects.
  • Administrative and financial administration experience.
  • Good understanding of basic concepts of monitoring and evaluation, and how they are central to good project management
