About us
British Council Hong Kong Teaching Centre is a large centre, teaching a range of kindergarten, primary, and secondary young learner courses in five locations across Hong Kong. We are recruiting experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated teaching assistant to join our team. Young learners make up approximately 80% of our student numbers and we are looking for teacher assistants who are dedicated and enjoy working with children.
Role purpose
To work in partnership with the class teacher to create a positive learning environment for Early Years students. And to support the wider aim of the British Council and its cultural relations mission.
Role Accountabilities
The role involves supporting the teacher by preparing materials, setting up the classroom, supervising children during lessons, and reinforcing class rules. It also includes modelling appropriate behaviour and encouraging active student participation to support a positive learning environment.
In addition, the role is responsible for managing customer flow, directing questions and feedback to the appropriate staff, and ensuring that key policies are followed to required standards, including safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Enjoy working with children
- Communicates clearly and effectively with good communication skills in Cantonese and English
Important information:
- Hourly Rate: You will be paid at an hourly rate of HK$75 per hour
- Contract type: Fixed Term Contract (more than a year, depending on mutual agreement and business requirement)
- Working hours: The role requires full-day availability on Saturdays and Sundays, with afternoon working hours from Monday to Friday. Working hours will be scheduled in line with an individual timetable provided by the British Council.
- Right to work: Please note that Teacher Assistant (Hourly Paid) applicants need to hold valid Hong Kong work visas / dependent visas / Hong Kong permanent residency in addition to meeting the requirements below.
