The Role:
Working in close partnership with the Senior Marketing Managers in Education, predominantly the Schools team, this role supports the organisation’s growth, reach, impact and reputation. The postholder will contribute to the planning and delivery of a clear, consistent, innovative and effective programme of marketing campaigns aligned to the wider strategy. The role also provides hands-on marketing support to sector programme teams and works collaboratively with regional colleagues by developing and sharing practical toolkits and ready-to-use content packages.
Accountabilities:
This role is responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating high‑quality, data‑led multi‑channel marketing campaigns that are strategically aligned, scalable and sustainable, and that support programme and sector priorities. It oversees day‑to‑day delivery across digital and other channels, manages internal and external suppliers and agencies, ensures clear briefing and quality creative output, and upholds brand, ethical and policy standards. The postholder protects and enhances the British Council’s brand and reputation, provides expert marketing advice and challenge to stakeholders, and maintains professional expertise through continuous development.
It applies strong analytical and consultancy skills to assess impact, generate audience insight, benchmark performance, identify new opportunities and translate complex analysis into clear, persuasive recommendations. The role ensures marketing activity is aligned with business and global strategies through close stakeholder engagement and joined‑up planning, while also managing budgets, financial reporting, risks and performance improvement. It builds and sustains strong relationships across the organisation and the wider marketing community, champions best practice, and effectively plans and coordinates work, contributing ideas that improve marketing effectiveness and organisational efficiency.
Requirements of the role:
- A degree in marketing, communications or relevant discipline, or demonstrable equivalent level of experience
- Experience in the cultural, education or charitable sectors
- Experienced in the design and delivery of marketing strategies and plans to support programmes/products
- Experience of conceiving and implementing multi-channel digital marketing campaigns, including paid activity
- Experience of engaging audiences across a variety of channels and platforms
- Experience of effective campaign evaluation

Important Information:
Contract type: 12 month Fixed Term Contract
Pay band: 7
Salary: £30,839 plus London Market Allowance of £3,300 if London based.
Location: UK – (London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast).
