Role Purpose:
To ensure that any test administered by the British Council runs smoothly on the test day/s and that all assigned test day duties and standards are met.
Main Accountabilties:
As a Test Day Invigilator, you will play a key role in safeguarding the integrity and reputation of the British Council and its partner examination boards. You will ensure that all tests are delivered securely, professionally, and to the highest global standards. This includes following all operational procedures, actively monitoring candidates, managing exam materials with care, and responding appropriately to any incidents or emergencies. Your vigilance and adherence to policies—such as Data Protection, Child Protection, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, and Anti‑Fraud—will be essential to maintaining a safe and compliant testing environment.
You will also help create a positive test day experience by guiding candidates clearly, answering enquiries, conducting identity and security checks, and ensuring that any special arrangements are delivered sensitively and accurately. Working closely with the Test Day Supervisor, you will support smooth candidate flow, uphold strong customer care principles, and contribute to a calm, professional atmosphere. The role requires attending all mandatory training, maintaining professional presentation standards, and, in some cases, being willing to travel as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essentials:
- English language level of CEFR B1 (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing skills) or equivalent (eg Cambridge English PET, IELTS 5), OR English language level of CEFR B2 (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing skills) or equivalent (eg Cambridge English FCE, IELTS 6.5), Or Good command of written and spoken English
- Any Diploma or equivalent
- Customer Service: experience of responding to children/ young adults and parents' needs (as customers) in a professional manner, to a high level of quality.
Desirables:
- Awareness of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Higher secondary / high school level certificate or equivalent and Teaching Qualification.
