The Role:

To support the Director of Marketing / Head of Marketing in the development and implementation of the country marketing strategy and plans for English and Exams (E&E), ensuring alignment with global marketing strategy and brand, and to work in partnership with the E&E Business to ensure that marketing programmes enable required business targets.

 

Accountabilities:  

 

Strategy and Planning

  • Leads country-level marketing strategy for E&E by leveraging market insights and expertise, ensuring alignment with global objectives, budgets, and resources while continuously tracking and reporting performance outcomes.
  • Designs and executes annual marketing plans and integrated campaigns to drive lead generation, engagement, and retention, ensuring brand compliance and contributing to product development and value proposition localisation.
  • Optimises impact through cross-audience insights, tailored messaging, and strategic partnerships and channels aligned with customer needs and business goals.

 

Consultancy, analysis & problem-solving

  • Develops deep understanding of business context, opportunities, and challenges to deliver insight-led marketing strategies, while clearly communicating complex findings tailored to both marketing and leadership stakeholders.
  • Continuously improves marketing effectiveness by incorporating stakeholder feedback and leveraging social listening and analytics tools to monitor reputation and optimise engagement.

 

Commercial and financial management

  • Plans and manages E&E marketing budgets using corporate systems, tracks and annual performance, and ensures cost-effective delivery while managing risks.

 

Relationship and stakeholder management

  • Proactively builds strong relationships with the internal network of marketing as well as stakeholders to ensure integrated approaches and enhance own knowledge and expertise.

 

 

Leadership and management

  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and the ability to plan and prioritise own and teamwork activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and stakeholder engagement over a monthly, quarterly and annual time horizon.
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate and governance policies, including the responsible and ethical use of AI tools.

 

 

 

Role specific knowledge and experience: 

Essential:

  • Considerable experience in developing marketing strategies and plans within a large and complex organisation
  • Experience in the design and delivery of plans to support programmes / products
  • Experience in effectively negotiating budgets and resources with senior stakeholders

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in a global organisation and in the education market/sector

Language Requirements: The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.

Education: Degree or professional qualification in marketing or business, or demonstrable level of equivalent experience
