Work Schedule: This is a 24/7 on-site role with rotating shifts, including night shifts. The position offers two days off per week, which may not always fall on weekends. Flexibility and adaptability to a continuous shift-based environment are essential. There is no hybrid work arrangement for this position, and it requires working onsite five days a week.

 

Role Description/Purpose

The purpose of this role is to analyse business needs and support all incumbent activities associated with the overall design and continuous improvement of standard global processes within English & Exams.

 

Role Accountabilities

The role applies core technical/professional knowledge, recognised best practices, approaches and insights from previous experience to analyse business needs and identify common and special causes of variation in process performance. It conducts analysis using a range of standard methodologies and across multiple datasets to provide high quality and evidence-based procedural recommendations/business advice. The role also designs and tests data mining models to select the most appropriate ones for use on a project and presents complex data information on operations and processes clearly, tailoring the presentation of findings to meet the differing needs of both technical and non-technical audiences appropriately, as required.

The role builds an in-depth understanding of the specific operational context, opportunities and challenges facing their ebusinesses globally to ensure the provision of procedural advice and support based on informed business insight. It proactively seeks internal customer and other stakeholder feedback to monitor satisfaction with the standard of functional advice and business support provided, enabling improvements to be made where issues are identified.

Within their area of professional expertise, the role identifies opportunities for procedural improvements within established policies and determines the most appropriate mechanisms and processes for implementing those changes. It demonstrates awareness of relevant governance arrangements that relate to making process changes, makes technical recommendations to resolve specific or localised issues, and offers ideas which contribute to the development of wider solutions to broader business challenges and problems with global applicability. It explains to customers and colleagues the need for compliance with agreed corporate procedures relevant to their area of functional expertise and collates compliance data within standard monitoring and reporting systems. The role creates data visualisations to make trends and patterns with time-series and cross-sectional data to deliver key insight and meaningful results for decisions and may participate as part of a team to support implementation of corporate or regional change projects within their area of functional expertise.

The role provides proactive professional advice and support to internal customers, i.e. businesses and Process Leads, to ensure local or unit-specific business practices within English & Exams are high quality, effective and compliant with relevant corporate policies. It uses a variety of information resources and professional networks to maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in external policy, practice and regulation.

The role shows an understanding of value for money/cost effectiveness in the advice, recommendations or service support provided to the Global team. It develops good working relationships with appropriate colleagues throughout the British Council to know who to engage with to enable effective implementation of procedural changes and improvements.

The role plans and prioritises own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and internal customer deliverables over a monthly to quarterly time horizon. It shares intelligence and ideas to support senior managers in identifying/developing new ways in which the functional specialism could positively impact upon the British Council’s operational efficiency and effectiveness.

The role is aware of the information security policies and complies with them. It also raises incident / blows the whistle when observing any non-compliance to information security policies.

 

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Education – Any Graduate (Bachelor’s degree)
  • Demonstrable experience of Data Analysis and Process Design applied in businesses.
  •  Experienced PowerBI & Power automate user.
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting projects that required in-depth data analysis and insights to address business challenges or make informed decisions.
  • Six Sigma green belt certification and experience in running six sigma projects is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of progress tracking tools such as Confluence/SharePoint etc. with evidence of utilizing them effectively.

Desirable

• Post Graduate in Operations Management
• Broad knowledge and understanding of the Exams Delivery end to end supply chain
• Working with SQL, and integrating SQL skills with the use of Microsoft tools like Microsoft Azure.
• Six Sigma Black belt certified.
• Knowledge of robotic process automation.
