Role Purpose:
Cash & Liquidity Management (CLM) partners with the Global Process Owner to drive the design, standardisation, optimisation, governance, and continuous improvement of global cash and liquidity management processes, supporting the Finance Transformation agenda. The role provides expert guidance on cash management, liquidity planning, forecasting, banking operations, treasury integration, financial controls, and automation opportunities to improve cash visibility, working capital efficiency, compliance, and operational effectiveness. Working closely with Treasury, Financial Control, Shared Service Centres, Managed Service Providers, Digital and Technology teams, and business stakeholders, the SME leads process transformation initiatives from design through implementation and BAU transition, ensuring robust governance, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable outcomes. The role is also responsible for identifying risks and improvement opportunities, developing global standards, controls, performance measures, and reporting frameworks, while acting as a trusted advisor and deputy to the Global Process Owner on strategic initiatives, transformation programmes, and process excellence activities across the global finance organisation.
Main Accountabilities:
Cash Forecasting & Liquidity Management
- Design and continuously improve global cash forecasting methodologies, processes, and controls.
- Analyse forecast accuracy and identify opportunities to improve liquidity planning and decision-making.
- Support the optimisation of working capital and liquidity management processes.
- Define and monitor key cash and liquidity performance metrics.
Treasury & Banking Operations
- Review and standardise global banking processes, including payment approvals, bank account management, and bank reconciliations.
- Support Treasury teams in implementing banking structure changes, cash pooling arrangements, and other liquidity optimisation initiatives.
- Ensure treasury-related process documentation remains current and aligned to global policies.
Automation & Digital Transformation
- Identify opportunities for automation through ERP systems, workflow tools, robotics, AI-enabled solutions, and reporting platforms.
- Collaborate with Finance Systems and Digital teams to deliver process digitisation initiatives.
- Support implementation of straight-through processing and reduction of manual interventions.
Controls, Compliance & Governance
- Design and strengthen preventive and detective controls across the Cash & Liquidity Management landscape.
- Conduct periodic assessments of process risks and control effectiveness.
- Support internal and external audit reviews and coordinate remediation activities where required.
Data & Performance Management
- Establish and maintain CLM process KPIs, SLAs, and reporting dashboards.
- Analyse process performance trends and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop management information reporting to provide actionable insights to Finance and Treasury leadership.
Change Leadership
- Lead cross-functional workshops to assess, design, and implement process improvements.
- Drive user adoption through effective change management, communication, and training strategies.
- Act as a change champion within Finance Transformation programmes.
Minimum/essential
- Experience in global cash management, treasury operations, and liquidity management processes.
- Experience developing and improving cash forecasting models and liquidity reporting frameworks.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, payment processes, bank account management, and treasury controls.
- Experience defining and monitoring KPIs, SLAs, and operational performance metrics and a good understanding of external best-practice benchmarks.
- Experience using process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
- Advanced data analysis capabilities using Excel, Power BI, SAP Analytics, or similar reporting tools.
- Experience leading finance transformation and automation initiatives.
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk management, and audit requirements.
- Knowledge of accounting standards and Treasury Management
- Excellent communication skills – experience of conveying complex financial information in an easy-to-understand way.
- Experience of working in an international and multi-cultural organisation, including a managed service operation/managing a diverse group of stakeholders in multiple locations.
- Experience of working with senior managers and stakeholder engagement.
- Flexibility, independence, and initiative to perform successfully in a rapidly changing environment.
Desirable
- Experience of SAP financial control system.
- Treasury Management tools
- Experience in data management and integrity.
- Project Management or Change Management qualification.
- Experience of implementing new and emerging technologies.
Language
The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required”
