Role Purpose:
The role ensures the implementation of examiner standards for all assessment products across our current and future portfolio of exams. This includes leading on the delivery of initial training and ongoing standardisation of examiners. The Examiner Standards Manager (ESM) will lead on monitoring examiner and examiner trainers (ET’s) standards and provide appropriate support as required. The role also supports in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures with a view to consistently improve marking standards across all Exams products.
The role will report to the Examiner Hub Lead and be part of Business Delivery.

 

Main Accountabilities:
Service Delivery
In this role, you will implement and uphold global examiner standards across marking hubs and delivery models, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance. You will supervise marking activities to meet delivery targets and deadlines, manage day-to-day resource challenges, and drive continuous process improvements. You will also ensure examiner adherence to delivery and rating requirements, while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and performance.

Customers & Stakeholders
You will work closely with suppliers and partners to maintain high examiner performance standards and meet service level agreements. You will ensure examiner and test taker feedback is regularly captured and used to improve the customer experience, while promoting a strong focus on quality and service. You will also highlight potential business development opportunities to support wider organisational success.

Risk & Compliance
You will ensure examiner compliance with rating standards, codes of practice, and confidentiality requirements, using standardised processes aligned to policy. You will support training and standardisation for examiners, contribute to the development of policies and standards, and ensure all activities meet regulatory and internal compliance requirements.

Analysis & Reporting
You will use data and reporting tools to monitor examiner performance, identify trends, and drive improvements. You will contribute to dashboards and reporting frameworks, and provide evidence-based insights to strengthen examiner standards and decision-making.

Commercial & Resource Management
You will support the implementation of strategies to train and monitor examiners, ensuring performance against SLAs and KPIs. You will identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support service optimisation and income generation.

Leadership & Management
You will provide direction, coaching, and support to examiners and teams across products, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You will contribute to workforce planning, capability building, and succession development across global operations.

 

Knowledge & Experience:
Essential:
•    Degree-level education or equivalent experience in teaching and language assessment
•    Examiner Trainer and/or other training experience with substantial experience as an Examiner
•    Demonstrable ability to deliver in a pressured environment
•    Demonstrable experience of working within a high-stakes global marking operation
•    Demonstrable experience in performance management / line management
•    Demonstrable experience in conducting training workshops and/or seminars with examiners or other professional colleagues
•    Demonstrable experience of being innovative in implementing standards and providing support
•    Demonstrable experience of delivering end to end training and support programmes
Desirable:
•    EFL Diploma or equivalent (CELTA)(desirable)
•    Substantial EFL/ESOL teaching experience as well as experience with a number of recognised language tests
•    Experience of recruitment and selection of suitable examiner candidates
•    Experience contributing to innovations in test delivery and marking

 

Important Information:
Location: Bulgaria or Romania

Salary: starting from  EUR 1949 gross / RON  12,300 gross per month
Contract Type: Indefinite
Pay band: 7/F
Right to Work Requirements: Candidates should have right to work in Bulgaria/Romania.
Languages: Written and verbal proficiency in English is required. The postholder will be expected to operate in English at the highest level of proficiency.
