What We Offer
We are recruiting Hourly-Paid Teachers for our expanding operations in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
- Hourly rates:
- CELTA-qualified teachers (CELTA + 2): 39 GEL gross per hour
- DELTA-qualified teachers: 45 GEL gross per hour
- Service contract: 12 months (renewable by mutual agreement)
- Professional development: Opportunities for training, mentoring, and career progression within the British Council network
- Relocation support for international teachers: Teachers coming from abroad will receive a return flight ticket and a two-week accommodation allowance to support their transition to Georgia. If a successful candidate is already based in Georgia, they will be eligible for a one-off resettlement allowance.
Essential Requirements
- University degree in a relevant field
- Cambridge CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL (or an equivalent recognised EFL qualification with substantial teaching practice)
- Full mastery of English (C2/IELTS 8-9)
- Experience teaching relevant age groups
Desirable Qualifications
- Cambridge DELTA / Trinity DipTESOL
- YL Extension to CELTA / BCTYLEC
- Minimum of 2 years post-CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL experience (essential for contract teachers)
- 800+ hours of General English teaching experience with adults
- 800+ hours of Young Learners teaching experience (ages 5-17)
Recruitment Process
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview the following week
- Candidates may be required to do a short lesson planning exercise
- Successful candidates will start teaching in the next academic year

Climate |
Tbilisi has a humid subtropical climate with considerable continental influences. The city experiences hot summers and cold winters, with some rainfall throughout the year. Kutaisi, on the other hand, has a more humid climate with milder winters and frequent rain, particularly in autumn and winter. Spring and Autumn – Mostly mild, with occasional hot periods. November – February (Winter) – Dry and cold, occasional snow, but often sunny. Summer – Very hot, with temperatures sometimes exceeding 35°C. Teaching Centre offices, staffrooms, and classrooms are air-conditioned, ensuring a comfortable working environment. |

1) How many hours teaching will successful candidates be given?
Teachers will be scheduled for minimum 12 teaching hours per week. More hours may be available upon request and paid as overtime.
Outside of term time, teachers will be scheduled for placement testing, materials development or other administrative work.
